An Audience With Diane Abbott

No performance info available

In 1987 Labour MP Diane Abbott made history by becoming the first black woman ever elected to the British Parliament. She has since built a distinguished career as a parliamentarian, broadcaster and commentator.

Her feisty style and straight manner was never better expressed than in a comment to former governor of the Bank of England, Sir Edward George: "You're just an inflation nutter, aren't you?"

As a pupil at Harrow County Grammar School, Diane appeared as Lady Macduff alongside a young Michael Portillo – they are now both regulars on The BBC’s ‘This Week’ programme.
