Theatre captions are similar to television subtitles and give deaf, deafened or hard-of-hearing audiences access to live performance. In captioning, the words appear on a screen above the stage at the same time as they are sung or spoken by the actors on it. You will also see the name of the character who is speaking and a description of any sound effects.
