Keep readers hooked and tension high! This workshop delves into suspenseful storytelling, exploring rising action, climaxes, and overcoming creative hurdles.

What makes a novel a real page-turner? Likewise, what keeps an audience on the edge of their seats . . .? This workshop will focus on suspenseful rising action, and how it leads towards the climax or confrontation at the heart of a story. We will explore what a narrative midpoint should accomplish; and how falling action inevitably follows. The day will include tips for writers trying to get over a creative hump.

Wolsey Writers one-day workshops are led by Katie Ward, an award-winning author from Suffolk. Every session (10:30am-3:45pm) includes a deep dive into our topic, tools and techniques to improve your creative practice, and dedicated time for your own writing or WIP.
