A free series of three in-depth sessions designed to help performance makers and creative producers to write and submit an Arts Council National Lottery Project Grant application. Project Grants are funding to support projects that focus on Combined Arts (including festivals and carnivals), Dance, Libraries, Literature, Museums, Music, Theatre, or Visual Arts.

Across the three sessions we will demystify the grant application process, offer guidance to support the development of a funding bid, and provide a friendly space for critical reflection within a network of peers.

Sessions will be led by New Wolsey Theatre Artistic Director and Chief Executive, Douglas Rintoul.

There are two ways to take part in this series; as a performance maker or creative producer developing a bid or as an observer:

Performance Maker/Creative Producer developing a bid: Up to four spaces will be offered to performance makers or creative producers who are looking to submit a project grant application for live performance. These applications will be actively discussed and developed as part of the sessions. Ideally, you will be based in, or have connections to, Suffolk or the East Anglian region, and we use the term ‘performance maker’ to cover a variety of creative roles such as writer, dancer, theatre-maker, director etc. You don’t need to have started an application to be considered, but you will need to be committed to working on the bid outside of the sessions and submitting it by 30th April 2025.

If you want to be considered for one of these spaces please send an email with a short bio and brief description of what your project bid will be for to Rachel Fitzgerald: RFitzgerald@wolseytheatre.co.uk or call us on 01473 295 932.
Deadline: Monday 20th January 2025, 10am.

Observer: Spaces are also available for people who want to develop a deeper understanding of bid writing by watching the process.

Please note that all sessions will be recorded and made available online to people who have signed up to the Suffolk Theatre Professionals Artist Network as a recap and learning resource.

You’ll need to be available for all 3 sessions, which will be delivered online:

Monday 3rd February, 6 – 9pm
Monday 3rd March, 6 – 9pm
Monday 31st March, 6 – 9pm

Spaces are free, but must be booked in advance. Book your place below and a link to the zoom meeting will be emailed to you nearer the time.

Access: Zoom auto-captions will be available for this event. The sessions will include comfort breaks and will take a relaxed atmosphere approach, meaning you can turn your camera off and take breaks as required. If you require any other access support please get in touch before the event for a conversation.
