Harry & Greta Livestream - New Wolsey Theatre

Harry & Greta Livestream

Performed on Sat 5 Aug

Vintage-style posters are stuck up on a run-down concrete wall. One of them shows a boy with his hands on his hips, looking up towards the sky confidently, a big red title beneath reading 'Team Harry.' The other type of poster has a blue background and shows a girl frowning with her arms crossed. A white title above her reads 'Save our planet, stand with Greta.' The two poster designs are repeated along the wall. A white title below them reads 'Harry and Greta' and a navy banner along the bottom of the image reads 'Livestream' in white text.

Presented by British Youth Music Theatre

And they all lived happily ever after. Or did they?

This dystopian retelling of 'Hansel and Gretel' (or in this case, Harry and Greta) examines what happens to our protagonists after they escape from the Wicked Witch. When there’s no home to go back to and no adults to look after them, it’s time they took matters into their own hands. In a world harrowed by the effects of climate change, Harry, Greta and an incredible team of young people must unite in their cause to save the planet and put things right!

'Harry and Greta' is a new musical written and composed by Lewis Cornay, the recipient of BYMT’s 2023 New Music Theatre Award. The creative team on the production includes Franny Rafferty as Director and Christopher Tendai as Choreographer. Both Lewis and Christopher are alumni of BYMT.

Arrangements by Ben McQuigg and Matt Herbert and Orchestrations by Matt Herbert.
