'The Highwayman' Title Track

'The Highwayman' writer Kitty Morgan

Moving artwork for 'The Highwayman.' Against a hazy background is an old-style wooden pub sign hanging from the side of a brick wall. Flickering blue and red text on the sign reads 'The Highwayman - a brand-new musical by Kitty Morgan.' In the top right, behind the haze, is a silhouette or a swinging noose.

A brand-new musical written by Kitty Morgan.

A fierce musical ride through love, larceny and 17th century debauchery!

He's a dashing rogue, undeniably charming and admirers fall over themselves for him. But beneath the wink and the smile lies a self-proclaimed sociopath, The Highwayman.

Prepare yourself for a full-throttle musical gallop through the grimy underbelly of 1600s England, where love is as dangerous as a back-alley brawl.

Along the way we meet a cast of richly drawn restoration rogues and romantics – from a mysterious conquistador to a rip-roaring East End landlady, and even special guest appearances by Nell Gwynn and King Charles II himself…

Join us for a tub-thumping pub sing-along where a live band reimagines tavern tunes and folk ballads in super contemporary arrangements, painting the picture of this devastating love story in and amongst the crime ridden filth.

The Highwayman is a wildly entertaining, tragically romantic story that holds a mirror to our own messy, modern world. It’s about longing for better while trying to run from the worst of our past.

Grab your tankard and come along for the ride of your life!

Age guidance: 12+.

This production is a story of hope and survival. The characters in the musical live and die in the criminal underclass of London and Suffolk in the 1600s. In their lives they have encountered abuse, neglect, violence, infanticide, domestic violence, self harm and suicide, so please be prepared for these subjects to be tackled during the show.
